BSF Suspends Constable For Maitree Express Molest Slur

Gede, Jan. 23: The Border Security Force today suspended the constable accused by husband of a Bangladeshi woman for molesting her on board in Dhaka bound Maitree Express on Monday morning.
The BSF authorities in a media statement said that accused constable identified as Veeranna Bhavi attached to Battalion 99 was “found to be involved” in the incident.
“The accused constable has been identified. We have put him under suspension and decided to extend all possible cooperation to the Railways authorities to initiate legal action against him”, a BSF officer said.
The GRP started a case against constable Veeranna and charged him under section 354 (A) (1) but so far they have not arrested him
Sources said the Railways authorities on Monday appraised the BSF’s DIG office in Krishnanagar and sought a report from it. The 99 Battalion works under the jurisdiction of DIG Krishnanagar sector. The BSF authorities conducted an inquiry, questioned the accused constable and the other members if the company in Gede after the train left for Dhaka.
A BSF official said: “A company of 99 Battalion was detailed to provide security to the train from Calcutta terminus to Gede and back. After receiving the complaint yesterday, we conducted a probe and found the allegations against the constable were true”, a BSF official in Nadia said.
On Monday, a little after the 13108 Maitree Express left Calcutta terminus, the jawan took a forced entry to a wash room of an AC chair car already occupied by a 35 year old Bangladeshi woman and molested her locking the door from inside. The woman was injured while jostling with him in a bid to escape and eventually fell on the ground. She also lost a nose stud in the way. She was rescued by her husband and co passengers. Her husband handed over a complaint to the traveling ticket examiner in the train, which was later taken up by the GRP for investigation.
