Chakdaha, Oct. 6: The cyber crime cell of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today nabbed three members of an inter-state ATM card fraud racket from Nadia’s Chakdaha while they were approaching toward Kolkata on Maruti Brezza. A team of plain clothed sleuths of CID and Nadia police intercepted the car being alerted by Hariyana police, where a number of complaints of ATM card forgery are pending against the trio.
The trio was later brought to Chakdaha police station for interrogation, where the sleuths recovered Rupees 1,40,000 in cash and 80 ATM cards of different banks, five mobile phone and cloning devices of ATM cards. They would be produced before the additional chief judicial magistrate’s court in Kalyani tomorrow.

The three accused youths were identified as Amrit Kumar (30), Rohtas (31) both residents of Hissar and Baljit Singh (36), who is a resident of Bhiwani.
On Thursday Hariyana police administration alerted the Nadia police about the trio. “This team was wanted for long and on inter-state alert list. On Thursday Hariyana police alerted us about their location. They told us that the trio would enter Kolkata through road. The Hariyana police provided the photograph of the trio, so that it becomes easier for us to identify. They also tracked their mobile and found their location near Dalkhola. We were also told that they were travelling in a golden color Maruti Brezza with a Number plate of Hariyana. So we alerted our personnel. At around 3pm we located the car on NH34 near Chakdaha and intercepted it”, said an officer.
A CID officer said that this gang was active in different areas in Hariyana. “They used to siphon money by offering help to persons who often find it difficulties to operate ATM. They usually stood in queue before ATMs and clone ATM cards to withdraw money obtaining the customers’ PIN number”.
The accused trio, however, had refuted the allegation. “We were going to offer puja to Kali temple in Kalighat in Kolkata and never involved to any forgery as alleged by the police”, said one of the accused youth.
