Covid 19: Ranaghat Police District Launches Mobile App To Ensure Lockdown

Ranaghat, March 30: The Ranaghat police district authorities have launched an android based mobile application for people living under eight police stations of its jurisdiction so that they can help police in its endeavor to fight the coronavirus disease by sharing information about the violation of any lockdown directives by any errant person.

The mobile app titled ‘CovidLock’ can be downloaded through a link to Google Drive. The app will be soon available in Google Play Stores. 

After registering with his mobile phone number, a user will be able to reach the police to share information about any crowd, gathering, opened shop of non-essential items and any other relevant information about the lockdown.

Once installed the user has to select the “report issue’ button, choosing the right option of the problem, and select the police station of the spot before submission. The message will soon reach the destined police station, a police officer said.

Speaking to the newsfromnadia.in superintendent of police of Ranaghat PD, VSR Ananthnag said, “This is a sort of social surveillance involving people to fight the Coronavirus ensuring the lockdown. This is a tool we have offered for the people to inform us if they found anybody violating lockdown directives making a situation vulnerable for spreading the deadly disease.
