Chakdaha, March 2:    Miscreants allegedly kept a BA second year girl and his Madhyamik candidate brother confined at their home since Friday afternoon beating up their parents in a bid to evict them from their residence over a land dispute in Nawda-Durgapur village under Chanduria-1 panchayat of Chakdaha.

Miscreants had allegedly molested the 20 year old girl, who is a student of Chakdaha College and tried to elope her when she and her brother tried to rescue their parents.

The girl was severely beaten up, lost a tooth but and did not allowed to come outside of their home to visit a doctor so far.

A police team being informed by the local rescued her parents and admitted her father Sahabuddin Piyada (42), a garment seller, to Chakdaha state general hospital. He was transferred to Jawaharlal Nehru hospital in Kalyani later in the night.

But, since the police team left the siblings were confined at their home with the miscreants’ guarding them.

The police team that rescued girl’s father at about 4pm, however, remained idle despite her wife Anjuwara Biwi since evening appealed the officials at Chakdaha police station to rescue her daughter. Being aware of the incident sub divisional officer of Kalyani Swapan Kundu also instructed the Chakdaha police to take action. But, no initiative was taken to rescue the girl.

The police refused to register a complaint when the Anjuwara went to the police station. Even SDO Kudu’s instruction to the IC was apparently ignored as the officer on duty allegedly misbehaved with the woman. “The duty officer rebuked me saying – Natok Kortey Esechen?”, Anjuwara alleged.

“I am really shocked about the role of the local police station. Being concerned about the seriousness of the incident, I instructed Chakdah police to take complaint and to arrest the culprits. But, it was flouted. Eventually I was compelled to appraise the Sub Divisional Police Officer and told him to take action immediately”Swapan Kundu, SDO.

She said, “The miscreants attacked us at 3 pm. They barged into our home, ransacked it, looted valuables had beat up my husband and molested my daughter. Police rescued us, but after that they did nothing to rescue my daughter and son. Even they took my complaint around 9.30 pm only after the SDO intervened

The complaint was registered against Kasem Tarafdar, Hossain Tarafdar and four others only after SDO called SDPO Kalyani Uttam Ghosh and appraised about the matter.

“I am really shocked about the role of the local police station. Being concerned about the seriousness of the incident, I instructed the police to take complaint and to arrest the culprits. But, it was flouted. Eventually I was compelled to appraise the Sub Divisional Police Officer and told him to take action immediately. I also told him to take action against the errant police officer on duty who misbehave with the woman and flouted my instruction”, an angry SDO Swapan Kundu said.

SDPO Uttam Ghosh said: “I will look into the matter. We will arrest the culprits”

The girl on telephone told this correspondent: “The miscreants snapped our electrical connection. I am in great danger as they kept close vigil on us. I am injured and my brother too. But, we could not go to a doctor as they kept us confined”.
