10 More Covid19 Patients Found In Nadia

Krishnanagar, May 30: 10 more Covid19 positive cases were added to Nadia’s tally on Saturday raising the total to 73.

The district health department in a statement has said that the new Covid patients who are included to the list are from Nakashipara (1), Tehatta-I (1), Kaliganj (1), Ranaghat-II (2), Hanshkhali (1), Karimpur-I (1), Karimpur-II (1), Chakdaha block (1) and Nabadwip Civic area (1).

At present district has 58 active cases of which 46 patients are under treatment at the SNR Carnival hospital in Kalyani, which is the sole Covid care hospital in the district. 14 patients have so far been discharged from the hospital. Only 1 person in Nadia has so far died due to Covid.

Meanwhile, increasing concern further the state on Saturday cross the 5000 marks when it recorded 5130 Covid positive cases with 317 new cases reported from the districts. Sources in the state health systems attributed the spike to the migrated workers returning home across the districts. A bulletin issued by the state health department claimed that 7 Covid positive patients have died during the past 24 hours, that took the total number of death to 237.

Meanwhile, in many areas of the district, panicked residents staged demonstration opposing setting up of quarantine centres in schools in their locality. In Ward-21 of Santipur town, police had to intervene to persuade a section of people when they locked the entrance of a school denying entry to some migrant workers advised institutional quarantine. 

In Ramanagar, migrant workers quarantined in a school, have alleged that they were dumped on the school corridor by the local administration and forced to stay there since Friday night.
