2 Migrant Labours Found Covid Positive, Total Cases Spiked Up To 15

Krishnagar, May 14: Two migrant laborers recently returned from Maharashtra were tested Covid positive in the Baidyapur area of Gangnapur police station on Thursday morning. The new confirmed Covid cases also include a nurse having her residence in the Gayeshpure who is attached to Barrackpore based hospital.

With the detection of three newly confirmed patients, total number of Covid positive cases in Nadia spiked up to 15. All the three patients were admitted to SNR Carnival hospital, the only dedicated Covid hospital in the district. 

An officer of Nadia’s Covid management wing said, “Eight migrant laborers recently returned from Maharashtra had suspected symptoms of Coronavirus. Their swab samples were sent for the Covid test. Reports of the two arrived on Wednesday night confirming the disease, while the same for the remaining laborers are awaited”. They have kept in an isolation centre.

Meanwhile, officials in the administration claimed that the nurse from Gayeshpur town, who was tested positive did not visit her home for about the past two weeks. She was quarantined after one of her colleagues in Barrackpore was tested positive. “She recently developed strong symptoms of the disease and her swab samples were sent for test. The test report confirmed her as positive on Wednesday night”, an officer said.
