Kalyani, Aug. 22: Education minister Parha Chatterjee today inaugurated an auditorium at the Kalyani University campus named after former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam.

The state of the art auditorium has been built incurring Rs.9.57 crores provided by state government. The hall has a seating capacity of 800.

The education minister today also inaugurated department of Hindi’s official building “Arya Bhawan” as well as Visual Art department’s official building ‘Kala Bhawan’.

In his inaugural speech the education minister advised the teachers and the students not to use cell phone while they are in the classroom. “Dear teachers please keep in my mind that nothing is more important than the noble job you have been entrusted to do. You are the ones who will make the students as good human being. So never use mobile phone as it would detract you from your noble mission. The job of the students is to study and the teacher’s job is to teach. There will be no cell phone between the students and the teachers. I hope both teachers and students will act responsibly in this regard, otherwise the society will suffer”.
