Radha Ashtami Celebrated At Mayapur Iskcon Hub

Mayapur, Aug. 29: The Radha Ashtami festival was celebrated today with pomp and fervor at the Iskcon temple in Mayapur. The festival marks the holy appearance day of Sri Radha, consort of Lord Krishna – the treasure house of divine love who is also believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Laxmi. According to legend Sri Radhika was born to King Vrishobhano and Queen Kirati. She was older than Lord Krishna of Vrindaban. The Hindu scriptures say

that relationship between Sri Radhika and Lord Sri Krishna was mystic. Their holy relationship symbolizes the dedication towards each other coupled with great spiritual energy. Today a large number of devotees across the country gathered at the Iskcon temple in Mayapur to offer their puja to Sri Radha as well as to Lord Sri Krishna. Congregational chanting of Sri Radha Stuti was also held on the occasion and Prasadam was distributed among the devotees.
