State Govt Announced ‘Kalyani’ As 18Th Block In Nadia

Krishnanagar/Kolkata, Aug. 23: The state government today announced creation of Kalyani block pulling out 7 gram panchayats from the existing Chakdaha block, which was the biggest block in Nadia district till a day ago.

The Chakdaha block which has so far 17 gram panchayats, has been reduced to 10 panchayats.

The newly formed Kalyani block will be the 18th block in Nadia. On the other hand this will be the 342nd block in the state. The state government has already issued the gazette notification in this regard.

The state government, however, yet to decide about the exact date from which the new block would start administrative functioning.

Nadia zilla sabhadhipatai Bani Kumar Roy said: “The Kalyani block will have its office in Jungle village of Madanpur. We are taking all preparatory measures so that the new block could commence its functioning smoothly since inception”.

Sources in Nabanna said that once the administrative building for the new block is prepared, a block development officer will be posted to commence the execution of the administrative works.
