Trinamul supporters took out rallies, blocked roads and also burnt the effigies of prominent BJP leaders on Thursday across the Nadia district protesting the alleged attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee occurred in Nandigram on Wednesday evening. At the same time many party supporters, particularly women offered prayers at the temples on the occasion of Shiva-Ratri wishing her early recovery. The protest began from Wednesday night a little after the chief minister returned to Kolkata from Nandigram and admitted to the SSKM Hospital with multiple injuries. On Thursday Trinamul supporters held protest marches in several parts of the district which include Ranaghat, Chakdah, Krishnanagar, Tehatta, Karimpur and other places throughout the day. Party supporters in unequivocal term accused the BJP of hatching out a conspiracy against the Chief Minister to win the ensuing poll. They burnt tyres in Ranaghat, Chakdah. NfN Picture.
