Nakashipara, May 17: Azizul Sheikh, 17, a resident of Nakashipara-Bilwagram has ranked 8th in the state Alim Examination, the result of which was announced on Monday (May 15).

Son of a laborer couple, Azizul scored 775 marks with an average of 86.1%. He appeared in the Alim examination as a student of Hossain Nagar Dar-ul-Ulum Senior Madrasah under Aliah Madrasah of Murshidabad district.

The West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education (WBBME) conducts the Alim Examination, which is equivalent to Madhyamik Examination.

The Board is considered to be one of the oldest post-secondary boards in India and is the only Madrasah board recognized by the government and one of the earliest state-managed educational institutions in British India.

Azizul’s achievement made his father Chand Sheikh a proud person, who leave no stone unturned to ensure proper education for his three children despite sheer poverty.

Azizul’s elder brother Minarul is now studying at class 12 (science) in Muragacha high school and her sister Parveen has appeared in Madhyamik examination this year.

Chand Sheikh, who now works as a construction labour for a real estate company in Kerala said: “My only dream is to see my children educated and become good citizens”.

Azizul is also determined to make his father’s dream into reality. “I have a dream to become a doctor and to serve the poor rural people. I will try my best to materialize this dream”, Azizul said, who was elated after receiving a congratulatory letter from chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

Lodal MLA Kallol Khan is appeared to be very happy with Azizul’s success. “He is a brave heart boy. He did not allow poverty to put bar on his way. He deserves accolades”
