Kalyani, Jan. 12: Former Bengal governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi inaugurating the 21st Bango Sanskriti Utsav in Kalyani on Friday evening. Inaugurating the festival, Gandhi, who recently fought the vice presidential election said: “Today is Swami Vivekananda’s Day. I could not have been more fortunate to be present in the city on a day which is his birthday. Swami Vivekananda was disciple of Sri Ramkrishna Paramhansa who represents the true religious culture of Bengal, which is composite culture and speaks about harmony”. Film maker Goutam Ghosh was also present at the inaugural programme of the festival. The ten day’s festival would conclude on January 21 with the rocking performance of Bengali band Fossils. During the next days singers like Subhendu Maity, Samiran Das, Srikumar Chattopadhyay, Subhomita, Rupankar, Manorj-Manisha Murali, Bikram Ghosh, Lopamudra and Fossils would perform at Kalyani Civic Centre ground. The festival is being organised with the support of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
