A multipurpose cold
store was also inaugurated by the minister during the occasion. The minister said that an amount of Rupees five crore was spent for the entire project. Kalyani Municipality chairman Sushil Talukdar said: “This market will help the fish traders in Kalyani to a great extent. The old market was in a dilapidated and unhygienic condition. The traders have a long standing demand to repair the market. So we talked to the state fisheries department which extended its cooperation through Benfish. But, they can now store their goods with a nominal rent at the new cold store”.
