Chakdah, Oct. 2: Satish Chandra Memorial School in Nadia’s Chakdah, a CBSE affiliated higher secondary school, has been chosen as one of the ‘Test Practice Centre’ (TPC) in the state by the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s (MHRD) National Testing Agency (NTA) for aspiring candidates who would appear in higher educational entrance examinations.
These examinations include UGC-NET, JEE (Main), NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Under Graduate), CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) and GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test).
The students will get computer based training (CBT) free of cost at SC Memorial based new TPC and also will be able to appear in mock tests to prepare themselves for the examination as real with time experience, a HRD ministry release stated.

The HRD Ministry set up the NTA this year which is set to begin functioning from December as the premier testing agency by conducting computer aided examinations for higher educational endeavors in a bid to improve fairness and quality in education by administering research based valid, reliable, efficient, transparent, and international level assessments.
Nodal officer Debasish Goswami said, “To achieve this, the HRD ministry has mandated the NTA to set up and create a network of Tests Practice Centres (TPC) for candidates, especially in remote and rural areas to enable them to practice and be comfortable in taking a Computer Based Test (CBT)”.
In Bengal, the NTA has so far chosen 102 schools and institutions as its TPC, some of which have already started functioning, where students will be able to take a Computer Based Test (CBT) completely free of cost. “Our aim is to set up such TPC particularly in rural areas and much as possible so that students living in remote and backward areas belong to poor financial background could prepare themselves properly”, a HRD ministry official said.
To get enrolled with the TPC, interested candidates needed to register themselves through the NTA web site, Goswami said. Principal of SC Memorial School Arup Sarkar said, “This is going to be a great support to the aspiring students as they would get high end practice session with facilities of tests absolutely free of cost.”
“The objective is to provide students the actual experience of taking computer based test. All efforts will also be made to provide practice tests and questions so that candidates can familiarize themselves with all aspects of computer based tests”, Sarkar added.
The Chakdah based TPA at the SC Memorial School has started functioning from last week. The weekend practice sessions will be held on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday there will be one slot of 3 hours from 2.30 pm, whereas on Saturday there would be two slots of 3 hours each which would commence from 11 am and 2.30 pm.
