Hanshkali (Nadia), April 14: A CBI team comprising 9 members headed by a Superintendent of Police that also includes 4 experts from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) visited Hanskhali to begin the probe into the alleged gangrape and murder case of a minor girl as per the direction of the Calcutta High Court.
CBI sources said that a Deputy Superintendent of Police has been made the investigating officer of the case.
On Thursday after obtaining formal order from the ACJM court Ranaghat to take up an investigation, the CBI team first visited the victim girl’s residence. Another team visited prime accused Brajo (Sohail) Gayali’s residence. The sleuths include women officers, who talked to the girl’s parents, particularly the mother for a long time and collected evidence. They even continued the probe amid the power cut using the headlights of their vehicles.
At Brajo’s (Sohail) house, the CBI team broke open the door to enter inside and examined the blood-stained blanket. The team left the spot after about 40 minutes of collecting pieces of evidence. Prior to leaving, the sleuths also talked to a section of neighboring families whom they asked about accused Sohai and his father Samar Fatalities.
The officials refused to talk to the media persons about the probe. However, a CBI officer in Calcutta said, “Our initial task is to study the area, examine the crime spot to collect all possible evidence before correlating them logically, and then to talk to the accused and other suspected persons. So it would be too early to comment anything about the case at this moment”.
