Kolkata, Oct. 14: In a major boost to West Bengal’s industrial and manufacturing landscape, Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL)—the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) arm of Reliance Industries—is set to establish an integrated food and beverage park in Nadia’s Haringhata. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that the foundation stone for the ambitious project will be officially laid on October 28. He would personally attend the holy “Bhumi Pujan” programme on the occasion in Haringhat.
Speaking after inaugurating a puja pandal in Ranaghat, Nadia on Tuesday, Suvendu announced that he would visit the Haringhat on October 28 to lay the foundation and to take part in the holy Bhumi Pujan ceremony. “I have to come Haringhata for the Reliance project. There will be more industry to come to Nadia..please wait”, the Bengal chief minister said.
On Wednesday, while inaugurating a new plant of Haldia Petrochemicals, he also announced that the state government would announce its industrial policy before the Diwali festival.
The upcoming facility in Haringhata, representing an estimated investment of over ₹600 crore, marks a significant milestone as RCPL’s maiden manufacturing venture in West Bengal and its first integrated food park in the eastern region.
The state-of-the-art facility will span approximately 30 acres of land allocated in Haringhata, located in the Nadia district, near to the NH12. Designed as an integrated hub, the park will encompass comprehensive processing, packaging, and manufacturing capabilities tailored to RCPL’s diverse product lines, which include packaged beverages (such as the popular Campa brand portfolio), staples, confectionery, snacks, and other everyday consumer items. The company’s soft drink brand Campa has already put market leaders in the segment like Coke and Pepsi in a tough competition already grabbing a major part of the market share.
By embedding modern processing infrastructure directly into a region with a strong agricultural foundation, the park aims to bridge local farm production with high-demand consumer markets.
The ₹600-crore project is expected to act as a catalyst for West Bengal’s burgeoning food processing and FMCG sectors. Industry analysts note that an integrated development of this scale will create a robust ripple effect across the local economy—generating direct and indirect employment opportunities spanning factory operations, logistics, warehousing, packaging, and allied supply chains.
Furthermore, the project underscores the administration’s ongoing push to decentralize large-scale industrial investments away from the core metropolis and into high-potential district hubs like Nadia. It adds a robust manufacturing dimension to Reliance Industries’ already substantial footprint in Bengal, which includes deep-rooted digital and telecommunications infrastructure via Reliance Jio.
With land allotment finalized and administrative frameworks in place, the formal timeline for construction will kick off with the ground-breaking ceremony on October 28. State officials and corporate representatives anticipate that the project will move swiftly through its construction phases, further bolstering investor confidence in West Bengal’s progressive industrial policies.
