But I am surprised to learn that Apanjan will offer service in no profit way”, said Professor Mukherjee.

Speaking to NfN, ITI Durga Utsab Committee secretary Amit Kumar Biswas said, “It is like a dream come true. Our objective was to do something big for people. We noticed that for the last two years Apanjan members have been doing commendable jobs providing support patients. Once we begun planning to buy an advanced ambulance, we decided to hand over it to Apanjan. This turned into reality today”.

“To materialize our dream, we decided to curtail our puja expenses. Usually we organise big puja and attract huge viewers. But in the last two years it was comparatively a low key affair. In the last years we saved a big amount that has been used to buy this advanced ambulance”.

Two years ago the ruling party’s Kalyani town committee played an instrumental role to form “Apanjan”, as an outreach initiative in own way pursuing its party line to help the elderly people in the town in health-related distress during the night.

To cater this advance ambulance, Apanjan has created a pool of doctors, technicians, drivers, patient nursing personnel, would on rotational basis render their service.

Apanjan’s chief mentor  Trinamul’s Kalyani town committee president Arup Mukherjee said, “We have engaged professional staff for this advanced ambulance service. We have to pay them. So we will charge only the amount that we needed to pay them. We have drawn out cost to cost charge. For example we will charge around Rs.6000 only for transporting a patient from Kalyani to Calcutta. This is a special service for the people in distress. We would have been happier if we could offer it free of cost”.
