Tutor Hurt In Accidental Firing By Student’s Father

Ranaghat, March 11: A young private tutor was critically injured in an alleged accidental firing by the father of one of his student’s in Nadia’s Ranaghat when he went to his home on Saturday morning to show him a new firearm, possessed illegally by him.

While a panicked teacher Sankar Kundu (30) was insisting student’s father Samarjeet Pramanik, to leave his home with the gun, two bullets came out from it accidentally as he hurriedly tried to hide it inside his pocket. One bullet hit a wall, while the other hit the teacher piercing left side of his chest.

Samarjeet, with the support of some neighbors of the teacher, took the private tutor to Ranaghat sub divisional hospital. But, as the doctors failed to remove the bullet from his chest, he was immediately transferred to Sambhunath Hospital in Kolkata in a critical state.

Prior to it, a group of local resident beaten up him at the hospital and handed him over to police. Police have started a case if murder attempt and conspiracy bases on the complaint lodged by his mother.

Ranaghat police have started a case of attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy against Samarjeet Pramanik on the basis of a complaint lodged by victim teacher’s mother Chandana Kundu, even though her son in a statement to police officers and doctors stated that it was an accidental firing by the accused that actually hurt him.
