Refresher Workshop For Journalists Held In Ranaghat

Ranaghat, June 15: The state information and culture department today organized a refresher workshop for the journalists working for different media houses in Nadia district. Around one hundred journalists from electronic and daily newspapers as well as local periodicals took part in the workshop that was held at the conference hall of Ranaghat Municipality.

Renowned senior journalist Biswajit Matilal made the participants aware about the need for updation of their reporting and writing skills. He also discussed the importance of media laws and need for careful handling of news stories those associated with legal implications. Senior journalist Debasish Bhattacharyay discussed the role of newspapers in social and economic development. Pradip Chakraborty, media advisor to Chief Minister’s office (CMO), a former PTI correspondent, had thrown light on the role of media persons as whistle blowers in the society. Joint secretary of information and culture department Alokajjwal Bandopadhaya and Arabinda Mandal, chief of bureau of state’s monthly journal ‘Paschimbanga’ were also present at the workshop.

The participants were handed over certificates at the end of the workshop.
