Krishnanagar, March 11: In a friendly gesture the BSF authorities handed over two minor Bangladeshi boys to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), as they were caught after allegedly sneaking into the Indian Territory apparently to collect wheat bran.
BSF authorities said that the two boys, both aged 12, and residents of Damurhuda-Munshipur in Chuadanga district of Bangladesh, were nabbed on Wednesday evening by a patrolling team of BSF near a border outpost in Rangiapota.
A BSF spokesperson of South Bengal Frontier in Kolkata said, “Our personnel spotted the two boys when they were trying to hide inside a bush”.
“During the interrogation it was revealed that they were engaged by a person to collect the wheat bran from a local resident in Rangiapota. They were caught along with sacks loaded with wheat bran weighing about 55 kg while returning through a unfenced part of the border”, a BSF source said in Nadia.
Later being approached by the BGB officials from other side of the border, the BSF authorities decided to release them. On Thursday the two boys were handed over to their parents in presence of the BGB officials.
“We were approached by the BGB authorities following the parents of the boys appealed them for help. We considered their request and handed over the two minor boys to them but at the same time insisted that they should take action against the persons who engaged the boys to collect the wheat bran sneaking into the Indian territory”, a BSF spokesperson added.
