Chakdaha, June 17: The yearlong centenary celebration of Basanta Smriti Pathagar, a state government sponsored library in Nadia’s Chakdaha begin in the town on Sunday afternoon. To mark the beginning of the celebration, around one thousand readers of the library that includes students and people from all walks of life took part in a walk around the town during the afternoon. The walk was followed by a cultural programme that held at the Rabindranath Tagore municipal auditorium in the town. The library was set up in the year 1919. It has at present around thirty thousand books, journals and original handwritten manuscripts of many eminent authors.
