Trinamul’s Hanshkhali block Trinamul Congress president Dulal Biswas, a resident of Bhaina and pradhan of Bogula-I panchayat, was killed by unidentified assailants inside the party office in Bogula town on Sunday night.

Police today arrested Trinamul activists Sankar Biswas (33) and Kamal Majumder (58), who were named in FIR lodged by the leader’s son Dipankar.

They were produced before the additional chief judicial magistrate Sanghamitra Poddar’s court in Ranaghat, who ordered 2 day’s police custody for them.

ACJM flayed the investigating officer Sibsankar Bose for producing Kamal Majumder before the court in lungi and vest. She told the police to produce the accused in decent manner.

Trinamul sources in Bogula said Sankar Biswas is a group C employee (Sahayak) of state panchayat department and at present posted in Ramnagar panchayat under Ranaghat block. Party sources said that Sankar is an active worker of Trinamul loyal state government employees’ federation.

The other accused Kamal Majumder is a farm labour and active Trinamul activist in Bogula.

None of the arrested accused persons has any criminal background, police said.

On Monday Trinamul general secretary Partha Chatterjee and Abhishek Bandopadhaya accused BJP’s behind the murder even though they were annoyed over party’s internal bickering, which one section of the party think is the actual reason behind the murder.

Additional SP Dinesh Kumar said: “Two persons were arrested on specific complaints and produced in the court. A CID team today visited the crime spot for investigation”.

A team of CID’s forensic bureau and finger print experts visited the crime spot in Bogula and collected evidences.

Meanwhile, with the arrest of two Trinamul activists Sankar and Kamal, the internal rivalry angle becomes stronger.

Locals were today surprised knowing Sankar and Kamal were arrested.

A Trinamul leader in Bogula said: “We know both of them are good persons and active party activists. But, their relationship with Trinamul leader Bimal Biswas went against them. Sankar is nephew of our party leader Bimal Biswas, who was once as a Congress leader was one of the prime accused in murder case of Dulal’s brother Swapan who was killed in 2005. On the other hand Kamal is a close friend to Bimal. This went against the two”.

An investigating officer said: “The duo arrested as the complainant specifically claimed to have identified them during the attack on Dulal Biswas inside the party office in Bogula where he was also present. We are examining their role. There are others suspects whose names figured in the FIR, but all of them are absconding”.

Nadia Trinamul president Ujjwal Biswas, however, ruled out that the arrested duo has any link with the party. “They are not associated with Trinamul Congress. They are trying to use party’s name to come out from danger”.
