Krishnanagar, Dec. 25: The Nadia district administration launched its inaugural language festival in Krishnanagar on Wednesday, with eminent author Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay officiating. This festival, reportedly the first of its kind organized by the state government, aims to explore the history, tradition, and evolution of language, its role in cultural exchange, and its potential to foster mutual understanding and communication, according to an official. In his inaugural address, Mukhopadhyay emphasized the profound and sacred nature of language, describing it as a legacy of our heritage. He cautioned against its misuse, stating that language should be a vehicle for love and peace, not insult, war, or hatred. He urged careful and considerate use of language, especially given the current “polluting social scenario.” Mukhopadhyay lamented the frequent use of obscene language on social media platforms and called for an end to such practices out of respect for the legacy of martyrs.
