Krishnanagar, Feb. 12: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today pulled down the police administration in Nadia for the deteriorating law and order situation in some parts of the district. During the administrative review meeting at the Krishnanagar Circuit house premise on Monday, she expressed her deep concern for increasing number of murders in areas Haringhata, Chakdaha, Chapra and Hanskhali police station. She asked superintendent of police Sheesh Ram Jhajharia, to explain the reason for the situation which she attributed as sheer ‘intelligence failure’.

Flaying the Jhajharia she said: “It appears that the police have no information about the movement of the miscreants. The miscreants are committing crime and fleeing easily. Sometimes they are taking shelter crossing the international border. But, police remained silent as they have no information. Why such failure of intelligence network on the part of police? Why police have no prior information about the miscreants? This is really concerning to me. I hope that police would become active”.

She also pointed out some incidents of murder in which her party activists were killed. She asked the district police chief as how a youth was killed on last night in Chakdaha.

The chief minister also cautioned police for clashes between two groups of communities in certain areas of the district. She asked the police and political leaders to be careful enough so that such memories could be averted.
