Krishnanagar, Aug. 21: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took a break tonight in Krishnanagar while returning Kolkata after visiting the flood affected areas in Malda district. She arrived at the circuit house in Krishnanagar at 9.20pm to spend the night after a day long hectic schedule. She was accompanied by state municipal affairs minister Firhad Hakim.
An administrative official said that the chief minister would leave Krishnanagar for Kolkata by road on Tuesday morning at about 11am. She would most likely held a meeting with the district administrative officials before leaving Krishnanagar.
Chief Minister went to Malda via Berhampur on Sunday night travelling in Dhana Dhanye Express.
In Malda she visited the flood affected areas and interacted with the victims. She assured the victims of relief and urged them to have patience as there is abundance of relief materials with the district administration. She directed the Malda district officials to manage the disaster with care and alacrity.
According to Malda district administration, nearly eight lakh people are affected by the flood.
Earlier in last week chief minister alleged that the flood situation in some district were “man made” for which she held the Centre and the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) responsible.
