Two Trinamool Congress Activists Killed In Ranaghat

Ranaghat, July 25: Two Trinamool Congress activists were found dead under suspicious circumstances in an under-construction house in the Anulia area of Ranaghat town, on Thursday evening.

The victims, identified as Suman Chakraborty (40) and Rupak Das (34), who had left their homes on Thursday morning, were discovered by locals lying in a pool of blood. Rupam worked as the driver of Suman, who was a close relative of a senior Trinamool Congress leader in the town.

The deceased were reportedly attacked with sharp weapons and their heads were brutally thrashed with heavy objects. Local sources said that the duo was known to frequent at the site for social gatherings with friends.

Upon discovering the bodies at about 7 pm, local residents immediately alerted the police, recovering the bodies took them to Anulia Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The gruesome nature of the injuries has raised concerns and questions within the community.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no immediate clues or motives behind the murders have been uncovered. However, preliminary suspicions point towards a possible rivalry over land dealings, as the victims were known to work as middlemen in land sales.

Additionally, the police are not ruling out the possibility of internal conflicts within the Trinamool Congress as a potential motive behind the murder. The two activists were reportedly involved in recent campaign efforts for the assembly bye-election in the Ranaghat South constituency.

The shocking incident has left the local community in a state of shock and mourning, while authorities intensify their efforts to find out the culprits behind twin murder.
