Kalyani, Dec. 14: The Kalyani University today launched a comprehensive mobile application for the students that would help them with audio visual content of course curriculum, virtual classes, payment options, students grievance help, university news.

The android system based mobile application was launched by the state correctional home services minister Ujjwal Biswas and vice chancellor professor Sankar Kumar Ghosh on the occasion of  2nd Regional Science and Technology Congress (Southern Region).

The application sized 9.2MB, is available at the Google play store and canbe downloaded for use on any android based platforms like smart phone and tablets.

Launching the application, vice chancellor professor Ghosh said: “With the launching of this application we are going a step ahead towards complete digitalization. This application would help our students to a great extent as they would now be find their course based needs on their finger tips.. Our objective is to make the application a comprehensive one so that they could use it for study purpose as well as official works like paying their fees and lodging complaints through students’ corner”.

“We would also introduce live video streaming of important events held at the campus so that the students could watch it at their ease”, the vice chancellor said.

“However, it would take time to include all the features into the application. The research and development of the application would continue with the feedback of the students”, professor Ghosh added.

Speaking at the occasion Minister Ujjwal Biswas said: “This is a great initiative on the part of the University authority. Such mobile application has now very useful. I am happy that the university has taken a very good initiative that suits the need of the time”

Anamika Mandal, research fellow of Bengali Department said: “It often takes lot of time standing in queue to pay fees. On many occasions I missed important lectures for it. But, hence forth I will be able pay the fees from any place using my smart phone. This app would definitely come up as a big help to the students”.
