Iskcon Devotees Celebrate Rath Yatra In Rajapur

Rajapur (Nadia), June 25: The holy Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath organised by the Iskcon authorities began today in traditional way from Rajapur temple premise in Nadia.

Near about one lakh of people across the globe gathered at this pilgrim township to experience Lord Jagannath riding the chariot on his way to Gundicha arranged near the Prabhu Pada ghata in Mayapur.

Before commencement of the Yatra, the deities of Jagannath, Balaram and Subhadra were taken out from the temple to be placed on the chariot by the devotees.

Women dressed as Gopinis performed dance in front of the deities to mark the beginning of the Yatra which commenced at about 2.30pm from Rajapur village.

The journey concluded at the Gudicha arranged near the Pradhupada ghat.

A large number of People from all religious faiths participated in the 6km long procession.
