Krishnanagar, April 8: BJP leader Mukul Roy on Sunday called the CPM workers to leave political prejudice and join Bharatiya Janata Party if they really want to ensure defeat of the ruling Trinamul Congress which he alleged has unleashed a reign of terror across the state.
In a categorical call to the CPM, Roy, a former Trinamul leader said: “Leave your party flag and join us. It hardly matters whom you support, but it matters a lot whom you oppose”.
The former Rajya Sabha member was speaking to media persons after Trinamul Congress leader and member of outgoing Nadia zilla parishad Sunil Pal (alias Kesto) joined BJP.
Roy said: “There are more such leaders to join BJP. I would invite the leftists, the CPM and other party members to join us. Hats off to the CPM, the leftist and also my party colleagues, who defying the threats have submitted nomination papers”.
Inviting the CPM workers to join BJP, Roy said: “At time when Bengal is bleeding, you should consider it more important how to defeat the Trinamul. But, unfortunately your party is not in a position to challenge the Trinamul, which the BJP can only do”.
“I fervently appeal to my leftist friends to realize that it has been amply proved by now, that the BJP is the only party in the state which can only combat the Trinamul. It has that minimum power. I therefore appeal you to join BJP, because it strongly matter whom you oppose and how do you want to defeat them”, Roy said.
“We have been fighting a common battle, so let’s join and fight together under the BJP’s leadership to bring back democracy in the state”, Mukul Roy added.
The Nadia district CPM secretary Sumit De rubbished the BJP’s call. “I would rather advice Mukul babu to leave BJP and join CPM if he wants to save Bengal, else BJP would divide people on the basis of religion and ruin it ultimately”.
