Motorbike Theft Racket Busted In Santipur

Santipur, March 12: Police busted a two wheeler theft racket and recovered over 2 motorcycles and arrested three of its kingpins from Nadia’s Santipur on Sunday night.

The sleuths got to know about the racket after the arrested youths failed to produce relevant documents of the two motorbikes they were riding.

Police said the on Sunday night a team of Santipur police acting on a tip of intercepted the five youths near Santipur stadium when they were roaming suspiciously. While two managed to flee , the cops caught the three others from whom two impoverished pistols were recovered alon with ammunition.

“On interrogation they failed to valid papers of the firearms and of the  bikes. They also confessed that the bikes were stolen. They also confessed that they are part of a racket which is involved in theft of two wheeler in the town. In past few months several bikes were stolen from the town, which we will now be able to recover”, an officer of Santipur police said.

“We have interrogated the trio and they disclosed how they stolen motorcycles during the past few months. We are trying to nab the all the members of the racket”, a police officer said.

Today police produced Debasis Dutta (30), Sanjoy Dad (28) Swapan Das (27) before additional chief judicial magistrate’s court in Ranaghat and taken to police custody for five days.the accused trio was charged for theft, for using stolen property, for assembling to commit crime and for preparing dacoity
