Chakdaha, oct. 15: A 15 year old, who was schedule to appear in next year’s Madhyamik examination, had committed suicide after being allegedly gang raped by her spurned lover and four of his friends in Bishnupur-Beler Math village under Chakdaha block. The family members of the victim girl, who was a daughter of a eatery on Chakdah-Banagram road, have alleged that the culprits had also tried to the kill her by broken bottle when she tried to resist the humiliation on the evening of October 13 on her way back home from a private tuition. The girl, a student of Bishnupur High School, unable to bear the trauma, consumed pesticides after arriving home and died on Sunday evening at a Kolkata based medical college, two days after she was admitted there. Surprisingly enough police initially refused to accept any complain of rape and allegedly forced the girl’s father to drop the word ‘rape’ written in the complaint. However, it eventually accepted the complaint late today evening when the local villagers being angry of police non cooperation blocked the Chakdaha-Banagram road demanding acknowledging the rape complaint. The locals refused to do the last rites of the girl when her body arrived after post mortem from Kolkata. Police today night accepted a complaint against the girl’s spurned lover Kartick and his four friends Bijoy, Sajal, Soumen and Dildar . However, none of the youths mentioned in the complaint could be arrested till report last came in.
