Iskcon’s Gita Jayanti Festival Begins In Mayapur

Mayapur, Nov. 28: The 3-day long Gita Jayanti festival organised by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) begins at its main hub in Mayapur this evening.

The festival aims to promote the understanding of “Bhagawad Gita” among all sections of the society. The Iskcon aims to expand the knowledge on this sacred book which can infuse the feelings of love and humanity among all.

With over 1500 devotees and visitors from across the country were present during the inauguration programme that held at the Gita Bhawan auditorium this evening.  The festival simultaneously held in all the branches of Iskcon across the globe.

Iskcon founder AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, once had pointed out that the knowledge of Bhagawad Gita constitutes a great science.  “He observed that each and every living entity should listen to it in own interest”, said a devotee.

To mark the occasion congregational chanting, keertan, seminar will be held during the next two days. The importance and relevance of practicing the teachings of Gita will also be discussed.

It is believed that Lord Sri Krishna uttered the instructions of Bhagawad Gita to Arjuna at Kurukshetra 5000 years back. To mark this legendary episode, the entire divine sermon Lord Sri Krishna will be recited in detail, said a spokesperson of Iskcon said.

“Experts from various disciplines and senior devotees will present their viewpoint before the audience and an interactive session is scheduled to take place. Besides this cultural events will be held every evening. The festival will have a large participation of students from across India who are pursuing Gita course”, the spokesperson added.
